
I created this concept is for a number of reasons:
I wanted to create a modular RPG product that blends escape room - like experiences with the core strengths of an RPG experience. In my mind the strength of RPGs that is the sense of exploration which I have tried to maintain throughout the challenges one encounters in Chromeria.
To really embrace a modular feel of adventure I designed the setting as part of the Planescape of dungeons and dragons. That makes it possible for a lot of characters, factions and challenges that should provide a fun sense of exploration throughout the experience.
With these general points it was a matter of coming up with a cohesive general main story that ties it all together, while still keeping the focus on how the players are to navigate this giant puzzle box that they are in.
